Chondroitin sulphate is extracted from the cartilage of mammals or fish. It is a sodium salt of chondroitin sulphate. Chondroitin sulphate occurs as a white to pale yelowbrown powder. It is odorless or has a slight characteristic odor and taste. It is freely soluble in water and practically insoluble in ethanol, in acetone and in ether. Since 1996, chondroitin sulphate has been used as a health product in America.
